Children’s homes in Nepal, and how we treat our own people

What the money has paid for

So far, that's meant food and everyday supplies. Longer term, we want to help fund schooling too.

What has been paid for

Food and everyday supplies

Food has been the biggest part of it, along with the everyday supplies a home goes through each month.

We agree what's needed directly with the home. We don't run it, and we're not trying to.

An intention

Education is what we would like to help with next

Food gets a child through the week. Education changes what the rest of their life can look like, but it costs more and takes longer to fund properly.

We're not calling this a programme, because it isn't one yet. It's something we want to build as the business grows, and we'll update this page when there's a real budget and a partner behind it.

How we employ people

The everyday version of this is who we put on contracts

The giving is a small part of what we do. The bigger, day-to-day impact is how we treat the people we employ, on every contract.

Employed, not classified away

  • Real employment contracts, not contractor arrangements chosen to shed obligations
  • We carry the employment risk rather than pushing it onto the individual
  • Locally compliant terms in every country we operate in

Paid properly, equipped properly

  • A fixed monthly payroll date, and pension contributions reconciled
  • Paid in local currency, so the exchange risk is ours and not theirs
  • Equipment supplied before day one and £20M of cover on every person
Governance

We care about doing this properly

This is the part that applies every day, on every contract, whether anyone's checking or not.

We like the work we do, and we try to do it properly rather than just quickly. That means paying people on time, being upfront with clients about what things cost and why, and not cutting corners when no one's looking.

  • Real employment contracts, never contractor arrangements chosen to shed obligations
  • We employ through our own entities, not a third-party provider we resell
  • Our price is published rather than quoted on request
  • Monthly rolling terms, so no client is held by the contract

Ask us about any of this

If anything on this page raises a question, get in touch. We'd rather explain it than have you take our word for it.
